Equipment:

Microwave oven or hot plate
Large mixer
Measuring cups
Beakers
Dehydrator

Instructions:

1. Melt butter in microwave oven or on hot plate at low setting.

2. Measure corn oil, Choline Chloride and distilled water and set aside.

3. Put contents of Dry Mix into mixer (do this slowly so as not to create airborne particles).

4. Start mixer on very low setting while at same time adding corn oil and Choline Chloride; mix for 1 minute. Turn up speed to next highest speed. Continue mixing for another 2 minutes. Add melted butter. Continue mixing for another 2 minutes.

5. Add distilled water slowly (depending on conditions, use only as much water as it will take to make a batter thick enough to make patties - like sugar cookies).

6. Make thin patties and place on trays in dehydrator on low temperature for 24 hours.

7. Break up patties, bag and label with: Synthetic Dairy Diet, Quantity, Date, Initials and Lot#.

8. Store all complete diets in -12 to -3 C freezer for 8 hours before using.

Notes:

1. Always store Ain 76 vitamin mix in a light-sensitive container in refrigerator. Choline Chloride should also be kept in refrigerator. All other ingreidents can be stored at room temperature.

2. Try to use all stainless steel mixing bowls and mixing paddles (using aluminum utensils causes aluminum oxidation in the diet causing it to turn a green shade).

3. Load food hoppers with a minimum amount of diet from freezer and check frequently to get an idea of how quickly it is consumed. Do not allow diet to sit in hopper more than one week, as oxidation may occur.
